Course Schedule

  1. Introduction: overview of the course, introduction to quantitative research in education, readings, and course expectations. (Lecture)

  2. Why quantitative research matters in educational studies: foundations, assumptions, and research questions. (Lecture)

  3. Reading and critiquing published quantitative studies in education. (Group Discussion)

  4. Descriptive and inferential statistics: concepts and applications in educational contexts. (Workshop)

  5. Regression analysis and interpretation: making sense of data in educational research. (Workshop)

  6. Using statistical software for basic analysis (e.g., SPSS). (Workshop)

  7. Small group consultation and feedback on data interpretation and research questions. (Workshop)

  8. Group presentations and final reflection discussion. (Presentation + Discussion)



Requirements




  1. Group Presentation: Work in small groups to apply quantitative methods to an educational issue and present your analysis and findings.

  2. Reflective Notes and Oral Sharing: Write a short reflective note on your learning experience and methodological insights; share key takeaways orally during the final session.
