Requirement/Grading

  • Participation & Discussion (20%)

    • The class meeting will be conducted in a series of discussions. Students have to read the assigned articles and prepare for class discussion every week.

    • Intensive class participation is the essential component to ensure the quality of case studies. The more you participate in class discussions, the more you learn from the course.

  • Issue Identification (30%)

    • While all students have to read the assigned articles and participate in the class discussion, 2 students will be assigned to lead the class discussion.

    • The leading students will have to prepare the full set of analyses on the assigned articles in advance and send the file to the instructor 1 day before the class meeting.

    • All other students have to identify the important issues from the articles for 1-2 pages and submit the files to the instructor 1 day before the class meeting.

  • Term Project (50%)

    • The term project can be a research proposal or a case study.

    • The students should present their research idea and motivation (for research proposal) or introduce the case entities (for case study) in the 6th meeting. Weekly progress demonstrations are needed for the following 2 weeks. The final presentation will be done in the last meeting.

    • Submit the file 1 day before the class meeting each time, and print out the hard copy for the instructor on each presentation date.
