Requirement/Grading

Attendance and Participation: 60%

  • All attendees must sign the attendance sheet for each class.

  • If you miss up to 4 classes, each missed class will result in a 5% deduction from your grade's attendance and participation portion.

  • If you miss more than four classes, your maximum attendance and participation score will be capped at 20% out of the 60%. This will result in failing the course.

Reflection Reports: 18%

  • For each report, select any three seminars (excluding PhD talks [博士生口試前公開演講場次]) that take place before the report's due date.

  • Each report should include:

    • An abstract of each selected talk.

    • Your reflections on the talk.

    • Potential research extensions inspired by the talk.

  • Each report should not exceed five pages.

Research Proposal: 24%

  • Choose one of your three reflection reports and expand upon it to create a detailed research proposal.

  • The research proposal must include:

    • An introduction that motivates your research topic.

    • A comprehensive literature review to identify existing gaps in the research.

    • Your proposed research model.

    • A data collection procedure, if applicable.
