Class Participation
The course is set up as a 3-hour lecture each week. Each student is required to prepare and present a referee report (in PowerPoint format) of his/ her assigned paper every week.
Weekly Referee Report
When reading papers and preparing for weekly referee reports, students are advised to pay attention to the following questions:
What is the key research question?
Why is this research question interesting and important?
Are these hypotheses (or propositions) convincing and well-developed?
Are the context and research designs appropriate for testing these hypotheses?
What are the main findings? Are there any alternative explanations for these findings?
What limitations does this research have? How do these limitations inform your future research direction?
Term Paper
In the term paper, each student is required to review relevant literature, identify the research question(s), explain the research design and methods through which he/she adopts to address the research question(s), and explain the findings and develop propositions based on the analysis of data.
