Moreover, one student will be assigned the as the discussion leader of the week (responsibilities include session opening, summarizing the whole papers, and preparing the hardcopy of handouts).

Referee Report

When reading papers and preparing for weekly referee reports, students are advised to pay attention to the following questions:

  • What is the key research question?

  • Why is this research question interesting and important?

  • Are these hypotheses (or propositions) convincing and well-developed?

  • Are the context and research designs appropriate for testing these hypotheses?

  • What are the main findings? Are there any alternative explanations for these findings?

  • What limitations does this research have? How do these limitations inform your future research direction?

Term Paper

In the term paper, students are required to review relevant literature, develop testable hypotheses, explain the methods through which they test the hypotheses, and explain their findings.

Textbook & Reference

List of readings will be distributed in the first class.

Each week we will go through a set of papers covering a particular topic in the strategy research. Readings with an * market are required readings—students are required to read them all so that they can participate in class discussion.
