Teaching Methods
Teaching Assistant
Requirement/Grading

  1. Attendance and Class Participation 20%

This class pays attention to class participation. Each student is encouraged to voice his/her opinions and ideas.

2 Mid-Term 40%

There will be a mid-term for this course. The purpose of the mid-term is to test students’ understanding of principles and concepts of modern public health and epidemiology. The focus is NOT on mathematical calculation.

3 Research Paper and In-Class Presentation 40%

Each student is required to do a 10-page research paper and in-class presentation of his/her paper. Students can choose any topic that is related to COVID-19. Or you can do a presentation on other pandemics such as the 1918-1920 Flu Pandemic or the 2014-2016 Ebola Outbreak. But I believe doing a presentation about the COVID-19 is easier. The presentation should be approximately 15-20 minutes and will hold in the last two classes. The purpose of the presentation is to train students to present in international conferences. Please tell me the topic of your presentation by the end of 10th week. I will also give some suggestions on topic selection in class.
