  11. Oligopoly

Topics 1-7 will be covered during the fall semester. Topic 8 will be covered if time permits, otherwise it will be taught in spring along with the remaining topics. Topic 9-14 will be continued in spring.

Requirement/Grading

Your class participation is required. Notice regarding this class will be sent to you by e-mail. Therefore please make sure you check your university e-mail and act accordingly. Class materials will be uploaded to the course webpage on https://wm5.nccu.edu.tw/.



 



No request of early final exam will be permitted.



 



The grade will be based on class participation (5%), in class exercises (15%), one project (10%), two midterm exams (each 20%), and an ACCUMULATIVE final exam (30%).




  • Problem Sets



Problem sets will be given out by topic. The problem sets will not be collected, but is essential that students study the class materials along with the problem sets. Solving the problem sets by yourself will help you to build the bridge between theory and application.




  • Class Participation (5%): This is a class of interactive teaching with a certain level of discussions.

  • In Class Exercises (15%): There will be no more than 5 exercises given in lecture during the semester. Exercises will be problems related to lecture and students are to discuss with their classmates. No notice of an exercise will be given in advance.



 




  • Project (10%): Due on 2021/01/04



This project will help you think about how to plan your future using the economic models you learned in class. Details of the project will be given to you after the first midterm.




  • Exam Dates: The dates stated below are just estimated timing as the actual dates depend on the process of the class. The actual date of exams will be announced in class.  

  • Miterm I (20%) 2020/10/19.

  • Midterm II (20%) 2020/11/30.

  • Final Exam (30%) 2021/01/11.
