Requirement/Grading


  1. Attendance and Participation 30%: Students will be graded on their active participation in class activities and discussions. Absence will only be accepted if deemed justified (illness, family issues etc.). It’s the students’ responsibility to duly inform me in advance.




  2. Oral Presentation 20%:On the 14th and 15th week, students will be expected to do an oral presentation on the subjects of their own choice. The presentation is the preliminary work of their term paper. The content of the presentation will include, but not limited to, the structure, major ideas, approaches (methodology), and references of the term paper.




  3. Term Paper 50%:The paper should follow the basic format of an academic paper. Students can choose various styles such as MLA, APA, or the Chicago Manual of Style. The term paper can be written in either Chinese or English, with a minimum length of 5000 Chinese characters or 10 pages (double-spaced) in English.
