familiarity with important English terms and concepts associated with diplomacy. Texts: G.R. Berridge, Alan James, Lorna Lloyd, The Palgrave Macmillan Dictionary of Diplomacy. Palgrave Macmillan, 3rd edition, ISBN 978-0230302990 Requirements: Class attendance Quizzes Vocabulary report: before the date of the final exam, identify one or possibly two news reports that includes one of this semester’s vocabulary words, and discuss how it is used, if it is used in the same way as the dictionary defines it, and why it is important. The report is to be four pages in length, 12 point font, regular margins. Tests:
Tests will cover both vocabulary words and the skills and knowledge covered in class. The questions will be a mixture of multiple choice, identification and discussion, as well as exercises in discussing the content of news stories, identification of the use of vocabulary words, and the writing of documents.
