簡介

講座姓名: Joshua Smith
Professor, Educational Leadership, Loyola University Maryland

This interactive workshop will explore how Colleges and Universities generally, and NCCU specifically, offer opportunities for students to be actively engaged in their education. Following a brief description of the historical and contemporary limits of student agency, participants will explore if AI is promoting or further restricting student voice and choice. According to the Digital Education Council, AI in the Workplace (2025), businesses hiring recent graduates cite the “Ability to Work with AI” is only second to “Critical and Analytical Thinking” as the top skill or mindset they are looking for in new employees. Additionally, it is predicted that many entry level jobs will be partially or completely replaced by AI. If these trends continue as expected, higher education will need to educate students for an uncertain career landscape and future.

Please come to the workshop considering the following questions:

• What specifically are you doing to teach students about the appropriate and effective use of AI in your courses?
• What changes have you made in assessment of student learning in the past few years due to increased student reliance on AI?
• What are you doing to better understand AI and its potential to improve your teaching and research?
• What are you doing to encourage students to take ownership of their learning and contemplate the impending social and economic changes associated with AI?

Lunch will be provided!
