1975年11月20日，獨裁政權的佛朗哥終於逝世，西班牙開始推動君主立憲，並將當時被關押政治犯全部特赦，然而在佛朗哥政權時代的 人也同時被特赦，西班牙政黨也達成了「遺忘協定（Pack of Forgetting）」，將這段歷史選擇遺忘。隨著擔任監製的阿莫多瓦和艾美 獎導演夫婦費時六年的拍攝，我們與這些走過獨裁政治的人們一同回 頭拾撿、拼湊記憶片段。為對抗遺忘、了解早隱沒於歷史煙塵中的事 件真相，亦或是為愛人、親人爭取回一點尊嚴，本片集結個人故事的 陳述與集體跨海訴訟案件，交織成充滿淚水與感動的「西班牙現代史 詩」。它不僅重新審視那段共同遺忘的歷史，也紀錄了人們面對傷痛時 的掙扎，與失去希望後那難以想像亦無比珍貴的轉型正義。

The Silence of Others reveals the epic struggle of victims of Spain's 40-year dictatorship under General Franco, who continue to seek justice to this day. Filmed over six years, the film follows the survivors as they organize the groundbreaking 'Argentine Lawsuit' and fight a state-imposed amnesia of crimes against humanity, and explores a country still divided four decades into democracy. Seven years in the making, The Silence of Others is the second documentary feature by Emmy-winning filmmakers Almudena Carracedo and Robert Bahar (Made in L.A.).
